A life fueled by creativity is one that is full of awe, presence, and acceptance for what is.
In essence, it’s the self expression of the soul through creative exploration of any activity ( dance, sport, writing, poetry, drama, design, etc.) you feel most called to.
“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.”
― Carl Sagan
On the days when I feel uninspired, I remind myself: our atoms are created by an exploded star.
Affirm to yourself :
We are a way for the universe to know itself.
And how magnificent is that?
THE AWE EFFECT
Having more awe in our lives calms the nervous system and releases oxytocin ( the love hormone.)
This in turn brings more joy into our lives and releases limiting beliefs on creative abilities.
You know that feeling of looking at the Grand Canyon, an ocean at sunrise, or the rainbow after a big storm?
Ordinary everyday things such as kindness from a stranger, nature walks, dance, food, all have the ability to generate that similar feeling in us.
A creative life is instantly more attainable as we pull inspiration and gratitude from these simple moments.
Practice : Look for awe moments today ( starting with 2-3) and increasing it each more every day. Soon you’ll find you’re in a state of inspiration more often than not.
CREATIVE LIFE PRACTICE
- Find a quiet spot to go within
- Create your happy place, your ideal world (Where are you? What’s the weather like?, What’s the scenery around you?)
- Tune into the colors around you, making it vibrant and peaceful as you can
- Next, visualize yourself your happy place, soaking up everything around you
- Perhaps, you go on a walk to explore more or simply sit and observe,
- Come back to practice whenever you need to generate these feelings
Breathing meditation:
- Breathe in count of 4 ( Just for today, I live a creative life.)
- Breathe out count of 4 ( I find awe in the simplicity around me)
- Breathe in count of 4 ( Just for today, I live a creative life)
- Breathe out count of 4 ( I find awe in the simplicity around me)
Repeat 3-5 minutes
