What has your self growth journey been like for you?
Maybe you’re battling with things like procrastination, perfectionism, anxiety, or depression.
Suffice to say: I’ve been there.
Yet the one thing that has helped my self growth journey?
Being creative.
Painting, art journaling, nature walks, crafting, writing, dancing, visiting free exhibits, poetry slams, listening to music, you get the gist..
These healing activities have deepened my self growth journey, even on days when I don’t feel like showing up.
Even when self doubt starts to creep up or old habits try to force their way in.
Let me explain…
Creativity & self growth are kind of like best friends!
& when our creativity is stagnant, our self growth journey struggles to make strides…
These are the top ways creativity has allowed me to heal & alleviate my self growth.
HOW DO I START SELF GROWTH?
Self growth starts by getting curious about you! It’s all about getting to know your interests, desires, habits, &values on a deeper level.
Here are a few ways to get started:
- Journaling
- Quiet time
- Reading
- Meditating
- Trying different hobbies
- Experimenting with different recipes
- Therapy
- Making a list of your favorite things
- Adding more movement into your routine
HOW DOES CREATIVITY HELP WITH SELF GROWTH?
you learn to make mistakes ( with grace)
Creativity (gracefully) forces you out of your shell..
For example:
Imagine you take a nearby glass making workshop in your area. Now you’ve wanted to give it a go, and can’t wait for the first lesson to begin!
When the day finally arrives, is learning how to cut glass and create your own stained glass panel for your home or garden,
Your finished piece looks nothing like the teachers ( or anyone around you, really) yet you have a sense of accomplishment and excitement from all the skins learnt through the experimenting process!
In others words:
Creativity shows us that’s it’s okay to make mistakes, ( sometimes they turn out perfect, other times not so much, but there’s always a lesson & growth from the experience.)
your personality & personal vision shines through
“The most incredible beauty and the most satisfying way of life come from affirming your own uniqueness.”
Jane Fonda
Creativity is first & foremost, an outlet of self-expression.
Just look at your wardrobe, your home decorations, the things you listen to, the scents you love, how you present yourself to the world.
Our environment is telling us about our unique creative style even if we don’t recognize it at first!
THE TAKEAWAY
Being creative is at the catalyst to positive self growth, self love, and inner harmony with ourselves. It allows us to get to know who we are on a more deeper and personal level. It invites more playfulness, & mindfulness into our daily routines!
