These fall art journal ideas are designed to have you fully prepared to warmly embrace the upcoming winter season!
Born in Texas, it’s obvious that I’m accustomed to heat waves lasting until October! The summer days seemed to last forever during my childhood, which brings me that summer vacation nostalgia I couldn’t let go off.
When the colder seasons came around, I would grudgingly power through, wishing for the warm summer months again.
To be honest, I had never really experciend a true fall experience until I moved to England.
And after two whole years of dreading the cooler months here, I’ve slowly begun to realize the beauty and excitement fall brings!
Fall is a time of abundance, ripening, and harvest, and abundance!
The leaves are changing colors, the days are slowly getting cooler, days shorter. Everything is starting to change and we can use this to our advantage by remembering nothing lasts forever and how important it is to stay present.

“And all the lives we ever lived and all the lives to be are full of trees and changing leaves…”
Virginia Woolf
Fall is all about preservation and creating a cozy space in preparation for winter. Think about it. Animals are storing food and preparing their hibernation and farmers are focusing on collecting their crops from their fall harvest.
We can bring this season of cozy environments and reconnection into our own lives by taking the opportunity to recognize how much we’ve grown these past seasons!
In this activity you’re going to collect leaves of all different sizes, shapes colors and press them into your art journal page. The catch is– try turning the leaves into different faces, forms, and bodies that represent the changes and experiences you’ve faced during spring and summer.
6. You’re in Control : Mood tracker
Benefits:
- Easily recognize your triggers
- Useful if you suffer from anxiety, depression
- Identify & recognize moods
- Spot patterns
- Learn how different factors can effect your mood
Some days I feel like I’m on cloud 9 and other days my anxiety definitely gets the best of me… . That’s why having a page dedicated to keeping a mood tracker is helpful in learning how your wellbeing fluctuates and why. Was there something different about your routine that day? Sometimes, we all just have an “off” day, but keeping a mood tracker lets you be in control instead of your emotions.
For this activity, draw certain different images that represent fall & use them as a reference for a mood tracker. For example, each day could be a different fall leaf and color in the leafs each day with different shades of deep or muted colors that represent your emotions.
