Creative embodiment is the starting point to cultivate a sense of peace and mindfulness in life. We are using our bodies as a tool to shift our energy into a state of creativity connection and balance.
Ask yourself : What does it feel like to be creatively in tune with the world around you? What things could you accomplish and relationships you could build and nurture?
When you practice creative embodiment you are gifting yourself success in so many areas in life :
- Workplace
- Relationships
- Hobbies / Passions
- Self awareness
- Connection
- Overall mental & Physical wellbeing
Creativity flows easily through us and the mundane tasks suddenly have a new spark to them. This is what true creative embodiment looks like and the good news? We all have easy access to it.
WHAT’S THE SCIENCE BEHIND IT ?
Physical body is a fiction. Every cell is made up of two invisible ingredients: awareness and energy. mind/body connection and the power of the creative spirit.
Chopra
Did you know that in order to get in creative flow, our bodies are connected?
This is because when we’re in a creative state we’re actively using our right brain ( known for emotions and feelings) which is also a part of a body led practice like dance.
Studies show that physical activities like these actually stimulate our brain growth and regular movement boosts creativity.
Our brains during creative activities is similar to the experience in meditation and exercises like yoga.
Why? Activities similar to those are made to help us find feelings of calm and peace by blocking external stimuli. Creativity can also give us this “high” feeling similar to those exercises.

- Visual representation of the body: Draw an outline of a body & fill it in using different materials you find ( pieces from a magazine, nature, old books, etc) that represent your body image relationship
- Connect with the feeling behind the words of a song / album and reflect on how it makes you feel
Ditch 24 /7 consumption
I’m guilty of staying up way too late reading and listening to all the millions of podcasts, interviews and articles. I mean there is so much fascinating information out there but too much consumption can result in tuning out the world us.
So, what can we do instead?
Nurturing our relationships is one of the best things you can do to practice creative embodiment. By connecting with others we can truly be present
When we connect with others we feel more connected to the world around by taking in their stories, wisdom and company. Why? Just think about that person after you spend time with them, you instantly feel energized and lighter.
Having a community of people who lift us up help to reach creative embodiment by helping us to enjoy the fun of life.
Every day isn’t the same
How do you spend your days? Are you operating from autopilot or truly embracing each moment, from washing the dishes to going to work?
These activities might seem boring or something that we “have” to do, but we can capture each moment and turn into something that feels luxurious.
It’s a misconception that every second of our lives resembles an Indiana Jones movie. In fact, I love the slower “lazy” days where I’m just relaxing with family.
This in turn builds our creativity because we search for ways to make our routine feel more luxurious.
