Losing yourself in motherhood is a common phenomenon, many of us our struggling with today.
I know that as a modern mama, finding our footing can feel like another task to add to the never ending list of things that require our attention.
And as much as I wish we could go back to the days where mothers were supported by their village.
That just isn’t the reality of the system in place today.
The result of these demands?

Curiosity
What’s one thing you’re curious about? (Even just a little bit)
Elizabeth Gilbert ( Eat, Pray Love author) touches in her book Big Magic how being curious is the building blocks for our creativity.
She talked about when she entertained her tiny interest in gardening, the journey resulted in inspiration for The Signature of All Things (novel on a fictional family of 19th botanical explorers.)
The moral of the story?
We will never be out of touch with ourselves, when we engage curiosity on a daily basis.
Personal Style
I’m in love with sundresses.
Something about putting one on makes me feel airy, creative, and feminine.
These feelings dictate my energy for motherhood, and the rest of the world.
In fact, there’s actually a word for this…

Slowing down
I have the habit of rushing things that really doesn’t need to be rushed…
Like:
- it’s a Saturday morning, and I’m hurrying to get dressed
- reading the bedtime story and have no clue what happened
Often when we we’ve lost ourselves, we’re going through the motions of our days.
What would happen if we just slowed down?
Simultaneously, as parents, it’s common to feel pressure to have our kids be involved in everything in order to give them the best opportunities.
But the research shows, the more free time children have for play ( without adults to lead), increases their creativity, problem solving skills, and resilience.
