As mothers, it’s exhausting to constantly feel like we have to keep up with the Joneses.
You know, buy that perfect house, maintain a lively social life, be an active philanthropist, all while having the “perfect” body and raising tiny humans?!
I mean, no wonder American women are one of the most stressed mothers in the Western world.
All this too say: the mom exhaustion is real! Our health as moms can no longer be put on the back-burner.
So, I’ve decided to say screw it.
Everyday I watch my 4 month old grow insanely quickly.
Now I want to be more intentional with my energy so that I can be present and engaged in my life.
These holistic ideas to beat mom exhaustion will give you inspiration to cultivate slower, enjoyable motherhood.
- Encourage independent play & quiet time
- Schedule ” white space ” for the weekend
- Decline an invitation out
- Ditch plain water for electrolytes / coconut water
- Order takeaway or let someone else do the cooking
- Try a restorative meditative / energizing breathing
- Get outside or open the windows
- Priortize natural light
- Practice conscious media consumption
- Red light therapy in the evenings
- Use roller on essential oils for energy
- Drink blends with super foods / adaptogens ( I love Rheal)
- Schedule a play date for kids ( so you can get some alone time!)
- Wear bright / happy colors
- Declutter
- Make sure to get a SAD Lamp for Winter
- Consume enough calories ( esp if your newly post partum / breastfeeding)
- Do a small lot of laundry each day
- Are you doing too much or too little? ( Add or cut something)
- Have groceries delivered ( or everything you use regularly on subscription).
- Daily mental health checks ( or therapy!)
- Practice mindful drinking
- Create an upbeat music playlist
- Avoid caffeine on an empty stomach (beats the crash!)
- Expertiment with herbal remedies
- Take vitamins
- Alter social, nutrition to menstrual cycle
- Aromatherapy / air dehumidifier
- Prioritize movement every 30 minutes
- Dance!
