Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays to celebrate each year, relationship or no relationship.
Why?
Because it’s a day to celebrate and indulge in some ( extra) self-love!
Because let’s be honest… we all need more ways to give ourselves a little extra love, after the busy and sometimes ( crazed) days we’ve accomplished throughout the year.
So, get ready to pamper yourself with the 5 best self-love practices for Valentine’s Day.
1. Practice Embodiment
Embodiment is living within, being present within the internal space of the body. It’s something quite different from being aware of the body.
Judith Blackstone
What is embodiment and why is it so essential for self-love?
Simply put, it is when you embrace all of the senses (immersing yourself in each moment, even the small details) .
It’s saying bye to the guilt and shame we have when it comes to our bodies.
We are allowing ourselves to take up space, and celebrate our innate spirituality of our sensuality through our physicality.
So, how can you practice the power of embodiment this Valentine’s Day?
- Do a pranayama exercise
- Movement / Dance
- Music ( allow the sounds to dictate your movement)
- Dress up in something that makes you feel beautiful
2.Make Plans
Practice self-love by indulging in a favorite meal, a cozy night with a movie, or doing that one thing that brings you joy.
So often are focus is placed on other people, we end up neglecting ourselves!
Give yourself the gift of attention this Valentine’s Day, by making plans for something you love.
3. Write a love letter
Maybe your love letter to yourself talks about your favorite things you’ve accomplished, obstacles you’ve overcome, affirmations, I’ll admit.
It feels weird at first to write a letter praising yourself…but when was the last time you really thought about all the positive attributes that make up you?
It is so easy to focus solely focus on what we need to improve, but sometimes we need a reminder to see everything we are this very moment.
5.Love theme it up
Maybe you get a themed manicure, host a cheesy rom-com night, bake your favorite heart shaped dessert, or decorate your space to celebrate.
Why is this important?
Because it takes us out of our regular routines, and gives us something new and fun to focus on.
THE TAKEAWAY
Although self-love is something to strive for every day of the year, Valentine’s Day is a moment to time to honor everything you do for yourself and others on a daily basis.
