Art activities have the power to move our stagnant energy and instead replace it with a positive higher frequency!
In fact, have you ever met a person that radiated incredible energy the second they walked into a room? You aren’t sure exactly what it is, yet something about them gives you a safe feeling.
Our energy speaks to others around us, even though we can’t “see” it! For example:
- You watch violent story and instantly get a heavy feeling.
- You’re walking down the street and a puppy runs up to you and you get a buzzing feeling inside.
It’s safe to say that when we vibrant at a higher level, we feel happier, more optimistic, lighter! So I know that when I’ve been stuck inside all day caught up in the chaos of everyday life, I first start to feel it in my body. It feels drained, slowed down, jumbled thoughts. And even if I don’t say anything, the closest people around me may come up and ask “what’s wrong?”That’s when I know that I need to listen to my body and tune in to creative expression. These high vibrational art activities are designed to help express your thoughts and also simply to let go and have fun!
1. Mixed Tape Paint Along
This is a great one for all you music lovers! Select a playlist of your top favorite songs ( or even select some music you’ve never heard before) personally, with this exercise I recommend exploring different genres, (get creative- Spanish jazz, seaside cafes, cozy rainy day list, etc) to see what emotions they evoke in you. As each song plays, draw / write different shapes, words and colors that reflect the sounds and emotions that come up with each particular song. In the end, you’ll have a reminder of the ability music has on us to change moods, and a visual representation of that.
2. Hanging Flower Garland
“Seeing flowers triggers a response in the human brain that calms it down.Psychologists report that patients with flowers in their home seem to have fewer anxiety attacks and lowered depressed thoughts.”
CHRISTIAN ROEME
Did you know that flowers can have a profound impact on your mental health? Studies show that you’ll feel less anxious, agitated, and troubled. And an easy way to decorate them in a creative unconventional way? Why not have a beautiful garland to hang around your space! It gives your house a more inviting and peaceful energy ( also a great piece to add to your meditation space!).

3. Create a Nature-Inspired Piece
Getting out in nature is one of the best things you can do when your vibration is in need of a little shift. This activity will also help you to celebrate the beauty in every season ; raising our vibrational state to gratitude. Simply go on a walk and collect anything that catches your eye- a gigantic autumn leaf, or a vibrant spring flower. After you gather a decent collection, now it’s time to make a seasonal artwork piece, getting your creative license brewing!
4. Make Your Own Terrarium
This is one my favorite art activities because as someone who has anxiety, having a terrarium gives my space a sense of peace. In fact, green is known as the color of tranquility and the process can deliver a therapeutic effect in-self. Think of it as a mini garden, filled with ornaments and accessories of your own creative choosing. There’s a million different ways to make one, but here’s a short video on how to make one for free!
5. Affirmation Card
Having a box of affirmation cards will give you a mini boost of confidence, and also a positive reminder of things you already know to be true but forgot during the daily chaos of life. These are also easily accessible to fit in your purse or wallet, and take out anytime you need to reflect on them. You can choose any affirmations you want, but here are a couple to get the creative juices flowing:
- “You are loved just for being who you are, just for existing”- Ram Dass
- Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.- Brene Brown
- “I am deliberate and afraid of nothing,”- Audre Lord
- “Who you are inside is what helps you make and do everything in life- Fred Rogers
- “Your perspective is unique. It’s important and it counts,”- Gleen Close
6. Collage
Collages are one of my favorite things to do when I need a quick “vibration” fix because they’re easy ( great for non- visual artists like me!) don’t take up too much time and it’s cheap. Have a pile of old magazines that’s been sitting on your desk for ages? Start cutting out images that speak to you and you already have half of your materials! Even though it’s easy, making a collage is a simple act of self expression, a non-invasive outlet to verbalize feelings, and reminds you what makes you, you.
7. Map a visual representation of your brain.
From what to cook for dinner, obsessing about the comment a stranger made to you, to stressing about the future, our thoughts have the power to uplift us or bring us down. This is one of the art activities that is perfect for a mind detox and reset. Print ( or draw) a brain outline and draw how you imagine your emotions and thoughts like.
8. Art installation of a safe space
Imagine a space where you’d love to go filled with all your favorite and meaningful objects. One that just by thinking about it makes you feel rejuvenated, calm, and happy. Now start to bring your vision alive drawing your most realistic “safe space”, whatever that looks like to you. This activity will help you become more self awareness on what you need during times of stress and agnation.
9. Work on a softness project
Now this is an art activity that will get your creative juices flowing and helps to forgo the need for perfection as this isn’t your traditional sculpture. Soft sculptures uses cloth, rope, paper, leather, and basically anything bendy and squishy to create a work of art. Don’t be afraid to take risks! How could you use a pair of jeans / shirts? This activity will help rebuild resilience and intuition.
